Vegetarian cuisine is often hard to come by. Not because it isn’t there, but because we don’t know about it. The Inland Empire is full of options for non-meat eaters. These ten vegetarian restaurants are delicious, affordable and easy to locate.

1. Angelo’s – Loma Linda

This restaurant is classical Italian with a twist. On top of the traditional plates such as spaghetti and meatballs or pastrami grinders, Angelo’s offers some of your favorite dishes vegetarian style. Spaghetti with mizithra cheese, squaw bread with vegetables and vegetarian meatballs are just some of the meatless items on the menu. Regulars rave over the great service, good food and low prices!

2. Complete Health Store – Rialto

The Complete Health Store has been serving the community since 1965 with a “home away from home” atmosphere. This is a one stop shop for great products and a vegetarian lunch. Take advantage of the daily special with half of a “Health Hunk” veggie sandwich and homemade vegetable soup. Visit the health store on the way out and grab some quality groceries

3. Eureka! Burger – Redlands/ Claremont

If you’re in the mood for craft beer and a veggie burger, Eureka! is your destination. The veggie burger is made fresh with delicious ingredients including beets, panko breading, onions and more. The burger is then grilled and topped with onions, arugala, zucchini pickles, tomatoes and lemon vinaigrette, and then placed on a locally baked bun. This veggie burger is one of a kind! Locals also recommend trying the watermelon quinoa salad, a fresh yet filling vegetarian option.

4. Extreme Pita – Riverside

Extreme Pita provides a countless number of options for those who are looking to try something new. Throw your veggies and falafel on a Pitza (baked pita) and pair it with soup or a salad. This place is inventive; customers claim it is the Subway for pita lovers. Stop in and try something new!

5. Happy Family – San Bernardino

This all-vegetarian-vegan Chinese restaurant opened in 1981 and has been serving the public ever since. Happy Family restaurant  uses soy products for most of their dishes, both a healthy and delicious product for consumers. The restaurants main entrees have been designated as “Heart Healthy” choices by the Suburban Hospital, while continuing to satisfy customers for 33 years. Locals recommend the Orange Chicken!

6. Heska’s Sugar Shack – Mentone

This bistro style coffee shop is a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner with great vegetarian options available at any time. Specialty sandwiches, delectable soups and fresh salads make this menu one of a kind. Heska’s offers affordable combos that can be paired with a soda or latte. Locals suggest visiting the shack for the best vegetarian sandwiches in town.

7. Indian Kitchen – Riverside

Traditional Indian at your convenience. Whether you want to dine in or take out, stop by the Indian Kitchen  for dishes made with fresh herbs and ingredients. Vegetarian lovers will enjoy the countless options including vegetable samosa (dumplings stuffed with veggies and potatoes) or paneer pakora (Indian cheeses coated in chickpeas and fried.)  This menu is comprised of dishes at a low price available all over Riverside.

8. New India Sweets and Spices – Riverside

With an all vegetarian menu at affordable prices, New India Sweets and Spices is a vegetarian paradise. The food is fresh to order and ready at your convenience. If you like spicy, try the vegetarian yellow curry that will have your blood pressure rising through the roof. On your way out, visit the market and pick up some ingredients to create and flavor your own dishes!

9. Queen Bean Caffe – Yucaipa

With both vegetarian and meat options, Queen Bean Caffe has something for everyone. The menu is comprised with items that are in season and sourced locally. While the cafe has gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options, there are items such as the TBC (turkey, bacon and chipotle) for non vegetarian customers. Aside from the food, locals love the live music and relaxed vibe!

10. Wok in Cafe – Redlands

Located in the heart of historic Downtown Redlands, Wok in Cafe Chinese restaurant has something for everyone. If you’re a tofu lover, as many vegetarians are, this is the place for you. Kung Pao veggies with family style tofu and fried tofu are some local favorites. Visit State Street in Redlands and try some of the best egg rolls in the area!

The Inland Empire is filled with some of the best kept vegetarian secrets. Whether you are going on a dinner date or taking a lunch break from work, these restaurants and markets offer great food and a smile. Visit any of these restaurants and try their vegetarian menu options.
