If going out to a bar or club on New Year’s Eve just isn’t your thing, why not host your own New Year’s Eve Party? And if you’re feeling really ambitious, you can make it even more fun with a theme. Here are five ideas to get you started:
Black and White: Have your guests dress in either all black or white (or a combination), decorate with black and white balloons and streamers, and serve chocolate chip cheesecake or cookies with black and white frosting. Then watch black and white movies all night!
Luau: Even though New Year’s Eve is sometimes about as cold as you can get in Southern California, have an indoor luau! Remove the lampshades from your lamps to create the feeling of sunshine and warmth.
Roaring ’20s: Turn your home into a speakeasy with guests dressed as flappers and gangsters. Candy cigarettes and chocolate cigars are a must. Play poker and have some Duke Ellington on the speakers.
Quinceañera: Why not have a quinceanera-themed celebration to ring in the new year? Everyone gets to dress up, make toasts, dance, and eat cake. There must be cake!
Slumber Party: Especially if you’ve got a fun group of single girls who’d rather stay in than go out on New Year’s Eve, re-live your junior high days with a slumber party! Do each other’s nails and hair, and maybe even throw in a few prank phone calls. When the clock strikes midnight, run outside banging pots and pans.
Happy New Year!
