Welcome to the first edition of Thought You Should Know. I’ll be grabbing an assortment of newly released country music songs from past #NewMusicFriday’s to share each week. There’s so much new music out there that it’s truly hard to keep up with so… that is where I come into play. Besides introducing the new music, I will also be introducing the voice behind the lyrics with a couple of facts about the artist. Check back each Monday to find out what’s been released! Just “Thought You Should Know”!
- “Incase You Didn’t Know” – Brett Young
If you haven’t heard of Brett Young yet, I’m not quite sure you’re truly a part of the K-FROG family. K-FROG is extremely proud of our southern California native Brett Young. Young fell in love with country music listening to K-FROG as a child. His EP debut on February 12, 2016 and recently performed at Stagecoach Country Music Festival. Find out what he had to say to K-FROG here and listen out for the song below at the next wedding you attend.
- “Gettin’ In The Way”– Keith Urban
Keith Urban released RipCord on Friday, May 6th, 2016 a thirteen song album featuring artists like Carrie Underwood, Nile Rodgers and Pitbull. This album has been long anticipated with the release of “Break On Me”, “John Cougar, John Deer, John 3:16”, and Urban’s new single “Wasted Time” rising up the charts. Check out my top pick “Getting’ In The Way”, below.
- “Dark” – Ryan Beaver
“Dark” was released in October of 2015. It instantly caught my eye back then, as it does now. Ryan Beaver new album Rx was released on Friday, May 6th, 2016 and features “Dark” as well as “When This World Ends (feat. Maren Morris).” When asked why he titled the album Rx, Beaver responded, “Making the record was like medicine for me.” Check out the song below and let us know what you think.
- “Letters To Ghost” – Lucie Silvas
Lucie Silvas is a British singer songwriter who has released her third studio album titled Letters To Ghost. Her musical talents began at the age of 5 playing piano and writing her first song at the age of 10. She is the spouse of John Osborne from Brothers Osborne. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in this house, just to listen to all the music this couple must play.
- “Forever Girl” – Jon Langston
Georgia native, Jon Langston debuted his five song EP on December 11, 2015. Featuring his well-known “Forever Girl” which has over 3 million views on YouTube. He has opened for Thomas Rhett, Chase Rice and Luke Bryan. You can find his music on iTunes.
- “Whiskey Dreaming” – Morgan Myles
Morgan Myles is the perfect combination of country and soul. Her whole entire EP is worth listening to. #WhiskeyDreaming caught my eye as soon as I heard her soulful voice sing, “You’re never going to have me back now baby.” I knew there had to be a story behind the power of those lyrics and sure enough there was. Find out what Myles had to say below.
- Dierks Bentley
I don’t believe there is a single song that I’m not in love with by Dierks and by recent song releases off his new album, Black, it seems as though that statement will not be changing anytime soon. Check out the introduction to Black (out May 27th, 2016), with 4 song episodes below.
“I’ll Be The Moon” feat. Maren Morris
“What The Hell Did I Say”
- “H.O.L.Y.” –Florida Georgia Line
Florida Georgia Line have truly touched the hearts of their fans with their new release of “H.O.L.Y.” Take a listen for yourself and check out what the duo has to say about the single here.
- “Company You Keep” – Maren Morris
Rising country music star Maren Morris has landed on the country radio charts with her new single, “My Church”. If you haven’t checked out her EP I highly recommend it, each song represents a different story and “Company You Keep” does just that. One of the first songs written for the album, “Company You Keep” gives the perspectives of what really matters in life.
- “Thy Will” – Hillary Scott & The Scott Family
Hillary Scott, member of Lady Antebellum, and family have released the first single off their album Love Remains titled “Thy Will”. It has been described as her letter to God. Find out more about the new single from her tweet and listen below.
- “Long Live Tonight” – LANco
LANco’s, “Long Live Tonight” definitely has the potential to be this summer’s good vibes tune. “Long Live Tonight” describes living life to the fullest and not to take any day for granted. Lead singer, Brandon Lancaster, was working a concession stand at Bridgestone Arena selling hot dogs when producer Jay Joyce happened to walk by. Lancaster approached him to talk about music and within in a couple weeks LANco was in the studio with Joyce producing a record. They will be performing at this year’s Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas, NV.
- “Best I Never Have” – Morgan Evans
I first came across this artist when he made his Opry debut, which was later posted to the Grand Ole Opry YouTube channel. This Aussie from down under has performed in front of thousands, opening up for Alan Jackson and Taylor Swift. Hopefully we will be seeing more of his music on iTunes, but until then catch him on YouTube.
- “Thunder” – Adam Sanders
You might not be aware of this artist’s name, but I’m sure you’ve heard of several songs he’s helped co-write like Cole Swindell “You Ain’t Worth The Whiskey” and Dustin Lynch “Hell of a Night”. Adam Sanders released “Thunder” on iTunes in November 2015. Take a listen for yourself and let us know what you think.
- “World Still Round” – Logan Brill
Logan Brill has one of those unique soft, but stern voices that captivates your attention the moment you hear it. County music has been a passion of hers since Marc Cohn’s “Walking in Memphis” graced her ears as a child. In the song, “World Still Round”, Brill sings – “Until a spark catches, you’ve got to keep on striking matches, ‘till you find the one that burns.” She describes those lyrics as her example of the music business.
