Navy Blue Angels Jet Crashes in Smyrna, Tennessee

According to Newspaper The Tennessean, a U.S. Navy Blue Angels jet crashed this afternoon after a takeoff practice flight around 3 p.m. EST.

Witnesses reported seeing a fireball and a thick black smoke just beyond the runway off I-24 at Smyrna Airport.

At about 3:30pm (eastern time) a U.S. Navy spokesman did confirmed that a Blue Angel jet was involved in an incident, however injury info and the identity of the pilot was not immediately available.

All other Blue Angels aircraft have landed and are on the ground.
