It’s not uncommon to feel grief and sadness after a tragic event like the mass shooting in Orlando. It may stir up feelings from the shooting from just a few months ago close to home here in San Bernardino. Grief is a natural response to the loss of someone or something very dear to us. Each person is unique in how he or she copes with these feelings. Some responses are healthy coping mechanisms, while others may hinder the grieving process. The acknowledgment of grief, time, and support facilitates the grieving process, allowing an opportunity for a person to appropriately mourn a loss and then heal. If you’re experiencing these feelings there are some ways to help you heal. We talked to a psychologist to get some tips that can help you with the process.
