In the “Musical Insights” series, country artists share their thoughts on some of their most popular tunes.
Cassadee Pope says she had a definite theme in mind when she wrote “Summer,” the title track from her new EP. “I definitely wanted it to be nostalgic and have it be a song about reminiscing on something,” she says in audio provided by the Big Machine Label Group. “And, you know, the thought of a summer romance, to me, just feels very passionate and powerful, but it’s short-lived.
“That’s what the song’s about,” she continues. “It’s about how nothing bad really happened, it was just an amazing fling that had to end at some point.”
Cassadee will perform at the Orange County Fair’s Pacific Amphitheatre, along with Hunter Hayes, on Friday, August 5th.
