J.K. Rowling: ‘Cursed Child’ is Final Harry Potter Story

"Harry is done."

Ahead of the London opening of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play on Saturday (July 30), J.K. Rowling told Reuters that she is finished with the series.

“[Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done,” Rowling said. “This is the next generation, you know. So I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

Rowling said putting Potter onstage was easy. “[The play] chimed perfectly with the material I had about the next generation and I could see it would work perfectly,” she told Reuters. “So, I never wanted to write another novel, but this will give the fans something special.”

Moments after the five-hour, two-part play premiered, the script-book, being billed as the official eighth Harry Potter book, was released.

Potter fans lined up at bookstores for the midnight release of the book, also called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Set 19 years later, it follows Potter and his son Albus Severus, as he takes his own journey to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
