You will never see a show with more sass, girl power and guitar changes than one featuring Miranda Lambert.
That’s exactly what Southern California received Friday night when the Keeper of the Flame tour hit the Irvine Meadow’s Amphitheater.
Donning a shirt that simply read, “Anderson East” which is indeed the name of Lambert’s new flame, she quickly owned the stage from the moment she started belting out her first song of the night, “Fastest Girl In Town.”
Surely a majority of the audience was wondering how Lambert would hold up with this being her first tour after the divorce from her and husband Blake Shelton. Although there were moments where it looked like Lambert might break down, she let her fans know why she seemed a little glossy-eyed.
“I have to tell you guys I took some allergy medicine earlier tonight, that’s why I seem a little out of it,” Lambert explained.
Allergies or not, the Texas native was belting out all of her hits like, “Kerosene,” “Little Red Wagon” and “Gunpowder and Lead.”
One of the most anticipated songs from the night was Lambert’s new single, “Vice,” a song in which she describes having “real things and real feelings.” This is the first single released from her upcoming sixth studio album.
Lambert’s 90-minute set finished with a trio of covers, one of which was a very memorable rendition of “Misery and Gin” from the late Merle Haggard.
There was no remorse for Lambert this night as she showed Orange County that’s she’s getting stronger everyday and nothing can seem to hold her back, yes, that even includes allergies.
