Man Arrested After Assaulting San Bernardino Police Detective

San Bernardino police say that a man wanted in connection to a string of burglaries attacked two police officers and then ran and hid from them around 10:30am Thursday morning.

Eileen Hards a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino Police Department told the San Bernardino Sun, “Detectives were following up on a case in the 1000 block of E. Congress. The suspect assaulted one of the detectives,” “(The) detective had a laceration to the forehead and was transported (to the hospital.) It looks like he will be OK.”

The spokeswoman also said that a sergeant was also allegedly attacked while the man was being taken into custody near 800 E. Mills Road in San Bernardino. Reportedly the sergeant was not seriously injured.

After the attack, police to set up a perimeter around the area of the Kohl’s Distribution Center on Mills Road where the unidentified man was spotted running through several businesses.

Dispatch reports state that at one point, the suspect ran through a construction site and workers helped point the wanted man out to police.
