Album releases become available for download Fridays at midnight East Coast Time. Since that’s 9pm Thursday night West Coast Time, every Thursday night, Pepper picks her three favorite songs from the new country albums and plays them on K-Frog for New at Nine! Here are her picks for this week.
Drake White says his debut album Spark represents a celebration not only for him, but for everyone who’s supported it along the way.
“It’s something that I’m proud of, and that I’ve put time into, and effort,” he reveals in audio provided by the Big Machine Label Group. “And the people around it that put effort into it, and the fans that have came to our shows, and logged onto YouTube and listened to these songs for three years, that they haven’t had a chance to buy and purchase yet. It’s a salute to those guys.
“It’s a salute to real authenticity and real music, and my forefathers before me that taught me how to play music and never stop chasing lightning rods,” he continues. “It’s a salute to the men and women that have kept us free and that have taught us how to work, and how to write, and taught me how to be weird, and that I was weird and that that was okay, and to keep being weird and to go out there and do your own thing, and no matter what anybody says, put yourself around great people that inspire you and drop the people that don’t inspire you.
“Love ’em from afar, but drop ’em!” he concludes.
Here are the three songs from Spark that I played for New at Nine tonight:
- Livin’ the Dream
