It wasn’t all that long ago, in the history of radio, that if you were lucky enough to be the token female hired on a radio station’s airstaff, you were probably relegated to being a sidekick on the morning show – or maybe the midday host – with all other dayparts being covered by men.
One of my favorite things about working at K-Frog is that we have LOTS of super-talented women on the air – including not one, but two female leads on our morning show. Without meaning any disrespect to our male co-workers – who are also superb – these women inspire, encourage, and challenge me every day, and I’m better at my job for having worked with them.
On this Women’s Equality Day, I’m so grateful for the women who have paved the way (the ones who got referred to as “That Girl DJ!”), and to every loyal K-Frogger today who supports us, relates to us, and listens to what we have to say. Thank you for allowing us to live our dreams, and for proving that a radio station with a bunch of women on the air CAN succeed.
Thank you. A million times – thank you!
