Florida Georgia Line’s Co-Writer Jordan Schmidt Talks ‘Dig Your Roots’

Tree Vibes Music Songwriter Jordan Schmidt was the first songwriter to sign with Florida Georgia Line‘s publishing company and it’s been paying off in a big way.

Schmidt co-wrote 7 of the 15 songs on their new albumĀ Dig Your Roots, some of which include “Smooth,” “Life Is A Honeymoon” and “Island.”

“Smooth is one of my favorites on the album,” Schmidt said. “It’s a song that makes me want to get up and dance and normally I don’t like dance.”

This isn’t Schmidt’s first rodeo as he’s also written songs for Jason Aldean, Granger Smith and Chris Lane.

Schmidt wrote his very first song when he was a teenager and he says it wasn’t some of his best work.

“I was about 13 or 14 when I wrote my very first song, “Schmidt explained. “It was called ‘In Loving Memory’ and it was terrible.

Although he love writing music, Schmidt said pretty confidently that he will never turn into a performer.

“You will never see me on stage,” Schmidt sternly said. “Being on the road is fun, but only for a few days. I’m married and I like being at home, so I’ll just keep writing the songs.”
