It’s been almost a year since The San Bernardino terror attack took place last December at the Inland Regional Center, and CBS News Los Angeles reports that an emerging report from the Justice Department and the Police Foundation reveals a lot of new disturbing and dramatic details.
In the report it reveals that there were three mystery people who tried to rush and take down the two terrorists during the attack, but these heroes were gunned down by Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik.
This is what the police and federal agents saw as they arrived on scene at the IRC and tried to clear the building.
A patrol officer stated, “It was the worst thing imaginable—some people were quiet, hiding, others were screaming or dying, grabbing at your legs because they wanted us to get them out, but our job at the moment was to keep going.” “That was the hardest part, stepping over them.”
In the report was also numerous heartbreaking stories from victims including a story of a woman who was shot in the head. She had asked another wounded coworker to call her mother for her to say goodbye. The coworker wrote that they tried to comfort the lady and asked her if she was okay, “the victim said I’m not, I’m bleeding from the mouth and then she closed her eyes for good.”
The terror shooting happened during a training session and a picture just so happened to be taken just minutes before the husband and wife shooters fired more than 100 rounds.
The report relayed such details like, “As the chaos unfolded, a round hit a fire sprinkler pipe causing water to pour out of the ceiling. The water and smoke that filled the room made it difficult for people to see. The shooters walked between tables. If someone moved or made a sound, the shooters fired one or multiple shots into their body.”
After the horrific shooting spree, the terror couple escaped. But there was an interview with a witness that was very observant and that helped police figure out who the masked shooters were, by using body language and body structure. A few witnesses were also able to describe the rented black SUV driven by the terrorists.
It wasn’t long before a San Bernardino investigator was able to zero in on the rental company of the vehicle. Officers then headed to the couple’s Redlands apartment and that’s when the chase began.
When it was all said and done Syed Farook was shot 26 times and his wife Tashfeen, 15 times.
There’s another extremely troubling detail in the report it states that the Police had found three pipe bombs in a bag in the conference room. Authorities didn’t realize until about 6 hours after the shooting that the bag was there. It’s believed by police that those explosives were intended to go off after first-responders reached the scene at the IRC.
