Earlier this week, Kelsea Ballerini notched her third #1 single with “Peter Pan,” putting her in the country music record books as the first female country artist to go number 1 with her first three singles.
Ballerini told ABC News Radio that this was extra meaningful considering it happened with her favorite track off of her album, The First Time.
“Any song getting played on the radio is a big deal to me,” she said. “But specifically this song, just because I feel like it’s the first time that I really got to kinda open up and really get a little bit vulnerable with my songwriting on the radio.”
To make things even sweeter, Ballerini was informed of the news on September 12th, which was also her 23rd birthday. Now whether it’s birthday parties or music milestones, the Knoxville native has said she likes to keep her celebrations pretty low key.
“When ‘Dibs’ went number one, I had a bunch of my friends over to my apartment and we waited until midnight, till the chart closed, and as soon as it closed, we just had a celebration together,” Ballerini said. “It was just me and my close friends.”
The small parties could potentially continue for Ballerini this Fall as she is up for both New Artist and Female Vocalist of the year at the 50th Annual CMA Awards.
