Flashdance is having a popular resurgence in music videos these days. Not only did Kanye West borrow from the film’s iconic dance scene for his latest video “Fade,” but now Luke Bryan has included something quite like it for his new music video “Move.”
In “Move,” Bryan and his band rehearse on one side of an industrial building while a young woman dances in front of a mirror on the other side. The camera keeps tracking back and forth across the two connected but separate spaces, as the woman’s moves reflect Bryan’s upbeat and rollicking song and he in turn mirrors her “moves” to an extent. But it turns out their performances are connected. By the video’s end, Bryan and his band are playing for a packed audience in that same space and the young dancer is up on stage adding to the experience.
“‘Move’ is all the fun you could want to have in a song, in my opinion,” Bryan said about the song. “It’s what I envision — big ol’ country dance clubs across the country playing that and it filling up and everybody having a great time” (via The Boot).
“Move” appears on Bryan’s latest album, Kill the Lights. His upcoming EP Farm Tour … Here’s to the Farmer, which arrives September 23. Bryan will kick off his eighth annual Farm Tour just two weeks later on October 5.
