Luke Bryan Lights Up Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre [Setlist]

In his final performance at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, Luke Bryan asserted that Saturday (September 24th) night’s show was the fastest sell-out of his Kill the Lights Tour this year, leaving no doubt that Southern California loves Luke!

The first third of the show was seemingly non-stop music, with Luke barely pausing between songs. When he did take a moment, he confessed, “I’ve had so many memories here, and I’m so sad this is my last time playing here,” referencing plans to demolish the Orange County venue after this season. However, he did offer a suggestion for after the apartments are built on the Irvine Meadows grounds: “We should just show up to party. I’ll get the gate code,” he joked.

He got cheers from the crowd for changing the lyrics in “Kick the Dust Up” from “If you want to see the beautiful people” to “If you want to see my Southern California people,” and changing the Georgia plate in “Play It Again” to one from the Golden State.

Luke saved his most romantic songs for the second half of his performance, including “Strip It Down,” and “Home Alone Tonight,” for which he brought out Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town to sing the duet with him. The rest of the band joined Luke and Karen for a medley that included “California Love,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay,” and “Sexual Healing.”

He brought Dustin Lynch back on stage for a duet version of Brooks & Dunn’s “Play Something¬† Country,” completely appropriate, given the opening act’s love of the famous country duo.

“Huntin, Fishin,’ and Lovin’ Every Day” showcased the musicianship of Luke’s band, before he turned the corner almost completely with his acoustic “Drink a Beer,” which was somber, intimate, and heartfelt.

The rest of his encore brought the energy back up, thanks to his cover of Alabama’s “Mountain Music,” and fan favorites, “That’s My Kinda Night,” “I Don’t Want This Night to End,” and Country Girl (Shake It for Me).”
