According to authorities someone wearing a clown costume allegedly threatened a Santa Clarita homeowner with a machete.
CBS Los Angeles reports that deputies said they received a call reporting that an “armed person was threatening a resident,” Sunday morning at about 6am in the 25000 block of Via Desca in the Santa Clarita Valley.
When the deputies arrived on scene they were told that the resident of the home was smoking a cigarette outside his house when a person wearing a clown mask approached him.
Allegedly, according to the authorities the homeowner said the clown was trying to break in to his residence and that’s when he fired off a round to scare the clown away.
Officials said the homeowner was afterwards arrested on and narcotics and firearm charges.
In an unrelated case, someone else wearing a clown costume was arrested a few blocks away on suspicion of possession of burglary tools.
Brittney Hopper, a CBS Los Angeles reporter spoke to neighbors who shared how startled they were by the morning gunfire.
Jean Martellaro said, “At 6:15 heard a gunshot and I thought maybe it was a car backfiring or something hitting my car.” She added, “I’m shocked that this kinda thing would happen here but I know this clown prank is kinda getting out of control.”
