Early Monday morning a police pursuit through the streets of San Bernardino ended with a crash and the arrest of a wanted gang member.
According to a release from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, at around 3:36 a.m. Deputy Gile attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to stop for a posted stop sign.
The suspect didn’t stop and continued to traveled through several city streets. Reportedly the driver neglected to show any regard for public safety and made multiple vehicle code violations.
The suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the fencing of an elementary school just past Waterman Avenue and Parkdale Drive. Deputy Gile pursued the suspect for about five miles before the crash.
The press release stated that the driver was then taken into custody without any trouble and booked into the Central Detention Center.
Officials positively identified the driver as Phillip Anderson and a records check determined he was a Parolee at Large with an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
According to authorities, the suspect has a lengthy arrest history and is a documented gang member.
