Reports have it that the coffee chain Starbucks is expected to roll out their seasonal red holiday cups this week. Plus they’ll be offering a free beverage with the purchase of a holiday drink to its customers.
CBS Los Angeles reports that Starbucks customers who buy one holiday drink can get another one free. This offer appears to be good from Nov. 10 through Nov. 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at participating stores.
As you may remember Starbucks received some backlash last year since their solid red holiday cup didn’t feature any holiday images or symbols.
Breitbart.com even went as far as posting an article and alleged that all the typical signs of the holiday like the previously depicted images of ornaments and snowflakes had been removed and called the plain red cups a “War on Christmas.”
However, other people have chimed in and disagreed with those who are in an uproar and claimed the cups weren’t festive enough with the hashtags #ItsJustACup and even #AreYouSerious.
According to an anonymous photo leaked by a Starbucks barista, the design on the holiday cup is supposed to feature more of a holiday theme this year.
Last week Starbucks unveiled a green cup, that features a mosaic of more than a hundred people drawn in one continuous stroke, a work of art by Shogo Ota. It was designed to represent shared humanity and connection. Some people mistook that as Starbucks holiday cup and got into a bit of an uproar over it.
