Driftwood Artist Insight: Rodney Atkins

Well if you’re like Rodney Atkins, you’ll probably be taking a back road this weekend to Doheny State Beach for Driftwood Festival.

A Tennessee native, Atkins signed to Curb Records in 1996 and found success with his second studio album If You’re Going Through Hell. It’s first two singles “If You’re Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows)” and “Watching You” each spent four weeks at the top of the country charts.

The album was certified platinum after two more singles, “Cleaning This Gun (Come On In Boy)” and “These Are My People”climbed all the way to #1. This also led Atkins to winning Top New Male Vocalist at the 2006 ACM’s.

Speaking of his people, one of Atkins favorites is his wife, and fellow country artist, Rose Falcon. They’ll be celebrating their 3 year wedding anniversary just days before the festival.

Rodney Atkins will be joined this weekend by Jerrod Neimann, Parmalee and Thompson Square. For tickets to Driftwood Festival, click here.
