CBS News is reporting the death of Carrie Fisher, the iconic actress best known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” franchise.
Fisher suffered a heart attack on December 23rd on a flight from London to Los Angeles. She was rushed to a hospital, where she passed away today (December 27th).
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads a statement from the family. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” says Lourd. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
