A gunman opened fire inside a Fontana apartment killing three people and injuring another.
Around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, Fontana police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 14500 block of Village Drive.
CBS Los Angeles reports when authorities arrived at the Village Drive Apartments, there was an immediate encounter with the 73-year-old suspect who threatened them with a gun. The man was later arrested after a brief standoff with authorities..
CBS Los Angeles employee Joy Benedict reported in a tweet that the suspect was related to the victims.
Two women and one man were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Pending notification, their identities are being withheld.
The fourth victim remains listed in critical condition and had to undergo surgery after being transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
There were reportedly five young adults, all first cousins, that lived in the apartment where the shooting occurred.
According to reporter Joy Benedict, the shooter was the victims’ uncle and claimed his nieces and nephews owed him money.
The incident is still being investigated.
