Two Detained By Victorville Police For Suspected Mail Theft

Wednesday, January 11th, Victorville police detained two people on suspicion of mail theft.

Yesterday afternoon a call was received at sheriff’s dispatch from two High Desert residents on Ponderosa Ranch Road, who said a man and a woman in a blue Jeep were spotted stealing mail from mail boxes.

Mail theft has been a huge issue in the High desert and has been steadily rising.

The Victorville Police Department stated in a press release that detectives began investigating the calls, and that around 3:30 p.m. authorities spotted the vehicle that matched the description of the Jeep in the 12300 block of San Dimas Street.

The detectives stopped at that location and spoke with 30 year-old Crystal Lobato and 31 year-old Anthony Carrill, both Victorville residents. The two were later detained after mail linked to the reports from residents on Ponderosa Ranch Road was located in the possession of Lobato and Carrillo.

Victorville police say this case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for filing and further review.
