“It’s nice to have somewhat of a purpose at the Grammys,” Thomas confesses in a statement from his label. “You know, to be nominated for Country Song, along with some of my friends is a huge dream come true.
“My wife and I are so pumped just to walk the red carpet with all those people, and when we get interviewed, we have something to talk about, which is nice,” he reveals. “So, very, very honored and humbled to be nominated for my first ever Grammy, and that’s a very tough category, and so I’m just glad to be in it.”
Other songs nominated in that category are Keith Urban‘s “Blue Ain’t Your Color” (written by Clint Lagerberg, Hillary Lindsey and Steven Lee Olsen), Tim McGraw‘s “Humble and Kind” (written by Lori McKenna), Maren Morris‘s “My Church” (co-written with busbee), and Miranda Lambert‘s “Vice” (co-written with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne).
And if he doesn’t take home the trophy this weekend, Thomas remains positive. “Even if you don’t win, you can always tell your grandkids that you were nominated for a Grammy one time.”
