Man Attempts To Rob People At Denny’s, Accidentally Shoots Himself

An attempted robbery at a Denny’s in Hawthorne early this morning has left a man hospitalized after he attempted to rob several people in the parking lot of the restaurant.

According to police, just before 3 a.m. gunfire broke out in the 13200 block of Hawthorne Boulevard.

CBS Los Angeles reports that police officers found the suspect lying on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound upon their arrival.

The suspect was transported by paramedics to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

It appears in a preliminary investigation that the robber held up four people in the parking lot. The victims jumped into their vehicle and ran the suspect over after he tried to escape from the scene.

The suspect was hit by the car and that’s when he accidentally fired his gun and wound up shooting himself in the head.

The robbery victims weren’t harmed in the encounter, and the investigation is still ongoing.
