The announcement has been made – the Raiders will play two more seasons in Oakland and then head to Las Vegas in 2019.
According to NFL.com, this morning the NFL owners voted 31 to 1 to approve the Raiders’ proposal to relocate to Sin City.
Although it never came to fruition, Raiders owner Mark Davis had tried to get a better stadium built in Oakland, but it just never happened.
They even tried to stay in CA, by bringing them to Los Angeles, but that deal too, never came thru.
So, it’s on to Vegas, where lawmakers approved public funding to build a new stadium, which will cost a bundle. $750 million! And while the Raiders are expected to play in Vegas at the start of the 2019 season, the stadium will not even be completed until 2020 according to the NFL’s website.
California’s NFL teams seem to be playing a lot of “musical chairs” in the last year, with Los Angeles getting the Rams back in 2016 and of course, the San Diego Chargers announcing a decision months ago to move from San Diego to Los Angeles.
