Pilot Of Small Plane Emergency Landing Monday Was Reportedly Drunk

Near Whittier on Monday night, a small plane ran out of fuel forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing. Investigators now believe the pilot was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

Thankfully no one was hurt in the emergency landing.

According to L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputies, it was apparent that the pilot, 58-year-old Darrell Roberts, was in the cockpit drunk.

CBS Los Angeles reports that Roberts was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol. He was released Tuesday with a court date.

Investigators say the suspect was originally leaving the Temecula area with plans to head to San Diego, but instead ended up going the wrong direction before he landed.
