It was quite the homecoming for Southern California native Brett Young.
He headlined the 15th Annual K-FROG Cares Concert, benefitting Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, at Pechanga Resort and Casino on Wednesday, April 5th.
The production of the concert was simple, yet extremely entertaining. There were no videos, props or gimmicks to entertain the crowd, just Young, his four band mates and their instruments on the stage.
The country crooner used his simultaneously graveled and raspy voice to win over the crowd in a way that came off very seductive, yet sincere. His voice had ladies wishing he was singing directly to them while the men in the room wished they were suave enough to pull off what Young did so effortlessly.
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing Young perform live, you’ll know that one of his favorite things to do on stage, besides sing, is tell stories.
When introducing “You Ain’t Here to Kiss Me,” he shared how he once broke up with girlfriend of six years on New Year’s Eve. He shared stories that were relatable to the audience and the honesty with which he told them was refreshing to hear.
The proceeds from the concert, and the golf classic from earlier in the day, all went to the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and Young saluted all of those who were helping do their part for such a great cause.
“When you’re given a platform like this, you better do something good,” Young said about performing this show.
Two songs that the crowd went extremely wild for was his current radio single “In Case You Didn’t Know” and his very first number one single, “Sleep Without You.”
Before Young took the stage, country newcomer Ryan Follese opened the show.
The former Hot Chelle Rae frontman sang a handful of songs including his smash hit, “Put A Label On It.”
