Riverside police are searching for a man who punched a woman in the face when she refused his attempt to hit on her. The woman says he reportedly hit on her and after she denied his advances, he then actually hit her.
CBS Los Angeles reports the ordeal was caught on cellphone video.
The unidentified 21 year-old victim said, “Not only did he hit a female, he blindsided me.” The attack left the woman with a nasty black eye, a fracture and an infection.
In the cellphone video you see the man dancing and yelling vulgarities mere moments before he attacked the victim.
“My eye immediately swelled up and shut and my nose was pouring blood,” the woman said.
All of this was said to have happened after she rejected the man’s advances on her.
Reportedly the woman was with her friends and had been at a club in downtown Riverside. While they were walking to a parking garage at Mission Inn and Orange they were followed and harassed by the suspect and his friend.
The woman said, “There was no way we could have been more clear — we just wanted them to leave, and they followed us all the way to our car.”
And that’s when things went from the guy hitting on her to assaulting her.
“I was just shocked. All I could think about was I hope somebody gets him, I hope somebody runs after him,” she said.
Unfortunately, the suspect got away and now Riverside police are hopeful that someone will recognize the man in the video and call the police.
Authorities want to capture the man before he assaults anyone else.
“If he gets away with this, he’s going to do it again,” the victim said, “And next time, it might not just be a punch in the face.”
