“I Met a Girl” up-and-comer, William Michael Morgan, performs at Stagecoach Country Music Festival on Friday, April 28th in Indio.
Get to know a little more about this handsome Vicksburg, Mississippi native in our feature, Stagecoach: Behind the Artist.
William was born in 1993; yes, he’s just 23 years old. His early influences included Marty Robbins and Keith Whitley. You could say those influences led to the traditional country sound he brings to his album Vinyl, released in 2016.
He decided he wanted to be a country star after getting a guitar and seeing Dierks Bentley in concert when he was just 12 years old.
He made the move to Nashville officially when he was 18, and by 19, he’d inked a deal with Warner Music Nashville. “I Met a Girl” quickly rose up the charts and made it to #2. His follow-up single is called “Missing”.
William is the father of a little girl, Presley, and single. He most recently became engaged to John Wayne’s granddaughter, Jennifer Wayne, but that engagement was recently called off.
William Michael Morgan has been one of the “ones to watch” according to several trade publications, and was honored to have been selected by industry folks as a performer on the Country Radio Seminar “New Faces Show” in 2017. An honor given to just several up-and-comers every year.
In a full-circle moment for William, he will be performing before his hero, Dierks Bentley, on Friday, April 28th at Stagecoach Country Music Festival. See you there!
