“Burning House” singer Cam returned to her home state of California this weekend to perform in the annual Stagecoach Country Music Festival.
In an interview prior to her performance, Cam discussed her forthcoming project, and offered her perspective regarding the current state of country music.
“I should have a song out sometime this year,” she revealed in an interview with CBS Radio’s KFRG. “It’s really cool, really fun to work on stuff that really resonates with me.”
Much discussion has been made over the “wild wild west” of contemporary country music, with influences from many different genres coming into the genre. Cam addressed those concerns, as well.
“I know there’s been sort of this conversation about what’s going on in country music, and ‘Where is it headed?'” she mused. “There’s kind of different camps, and it’s a lot to take in, but in the end, you just gotta do what you want to do.
“Nobody would’ve said ‘Burning House’ would’ve worked!” she concluded with a laugh.
