According to officials, a mishap during a training exercise in San Bernardino sent a sheriff’s deputy to the hospital after his handgun accidentally discharged.
CBS Los Angeles reports that According to Cindy Bachman, who is a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened east of Los Angeles at the Frank Bland Regional Training Facility, Tuesday morning.
Spokeswoman Bachman said that as the deputy was re-holstering his gun during an exercise, the weapon fired injuring the deputy who was then treated at the scene. She went on to say that soon after the incident, the deputy was in stable condition and flown to the hospital.
Bachman said the training this morning was part of regular exercises that special enforcement and SWAT officers go through.
