A homeowner in Chino Hills held three teenagers, who tried to break into his home, at gunpoint until sheriff’s deputies arrived.
CBS Los Angeles’ Crystal Cruz reports that the family didn’t speak much English and that their neighbor explained to her what happened after the family heard people they didn’t know in their back yard, Monday afternoon.
Neighbor Tony Tran said, “They came home from supermarket, and they noticed somebody jump the fence and try to pry in. And he panicked. He had a gun. So he pulled out and do a warning shot.”
The homeowner waited for San Bernardino sheriff’s deputies to arrive while holding the three burglars at gunpoint. The three burglars were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.
Another neighbor Lapedtra Singleton said, “If that’s what he felt he needed to do, that’s what he needed to do. Because you don’t know. You walk in and someone’s in your house. You don’t know if they’re going to kill you.”
Reportedly last month at a home close to this incident, another unsuspecting homeowner was asleep when two people tried to break into his house. They were unsuccessful and left in a white car.
