“Dance Moms”‘ Abby Lee Miller is Headed To Jail

A federal judge in Pittsburgh has sentenced former “Dance Moms” host Abby Lee Miller to one year and one day in prison, a year and a half after she was first indicted on 20 counts of fraud.

According to Deadline, Chief Judge Joy Flowers Conti scolded the former Lifetime star, saying, “You weren’t truthful, even when you knew you were supposed to tell everything, you still weren’t truthful. Somehow you got caught up in the world of fame and you lost your moral compass.”

Miller will likely serve her time in a facility near Los Angeles, then spend two years in a supervised release.

She allegedly hid more than $775,000 in earnings from the courts, and must now pay a fine of $40,000 and a $120,000 judgment.

The dance teacher cited her quick rise to fame as the catalyst for her poor decision-making. “‘Dance Moms’ became a hit, and I became the laughing stock of reality TV,” she explained to the judge.

Miller’s attorney says there are no plans to appeal the Judge’s decision, and Miller has offered to take Conti “out to lunch.”
