Vince Gill to Join Eagles For Limited Dates

Legendary rock band, Eagles, believe they have found someone who the late Glenn Frey, would be proud to fill the void he left in the band.

That huge responsibility has been given to GRAMMY award-winning country singer/songwriter, Vince Gill.

According to the LA Times, the idea to bring Gill in came after his tribute performance to the band at the Kennedy Center Honors back in December 2016.

Glenn Frey’s death last year was not only shocking, but left a huge concern among fans that this was the end of the band… forever.

Not so.

As announced last week, Frey’s 24-year-old son, Deacon, will also be joining the band, an idea that was broached by Don Henley, after seeing Deacon honor his father with his songs at his services.

Both Vince Gill and Deacon will become and official “Eagle” at the Classic West Festival at Dodger Stadium, July 15th and 16th, and the Classic East Festival at Citi Field in New York. They will share and rotate vocals on Glenn’s songs he wrote with the Eagles.

Gill says with a sly smile, “In my mind, I always thought I’d have made a good Eagle.”

Gill continued, “But in a million years, I never would have seen this coming. It’s pretty surreal. I turned 60 recently, and to get to be a part of this amazing legacy of songs, that’s the greatest part of all this for me”

From there, their tenures remain uncertain.  As of now, there’s no plans to record an album together or extend the dates of the tour in 2017.  Henley is calling this all somewhat “experimental.
