Daniel “Twitch” Franco of Rancho Cucamonga is local boxer who is now on the fight to recover from a medically-induced coma.
CBS Los Angeles reports the 25 year-old boxer was in a featherweight boxing match in Iowa, on Saturday. During his fight with Utah’s Jose Haro, he too a big blow to the head and sustained a head injury. The fight was stopped in the 8th of 10 rounds.
Franco, who was the favored boxer in the televised bout was transported to the hospital where doctors discovered several brain bleeds.
According to the boxer’s friend’s, he needed emergency surgery to fix bleeding in his brain. At the moment, he is reportedly still in a medically-induced coma.
Franco is a Riverside native, who trains in Rialto and graduated from Hesperia High School.
