Wrong Fire Emergency Alert Sent Causes California Residents To Panic

An accidental emergency text alert was sent across California, including to residents in San Bernardino and Riverside counties saying: “Fire Warning in this area….Evacuate Now.”

Authorities are now trying to figure out which agency sent the the text. The emergency alert was meant for those who are near the Manzanita Fire in the mountain areas of Silent Valley and Poppet Flats

CBS Los Angeles reports the alert was sent to hundreds of thousands of people not affected by the fire on accident.

We got one the message on one of our phones in my house. Scared me at first, I went outside and looked and smelled for smoke, then did a search online and found out it was sent on accident. Did you get the emergency fire message?
