Inland Empire Woman Arrested After Dog Dies In Hot Car

Police in Ontario arrested a woman Sunday after a dog died in her hot car.

According to police, it was around 1:30 p.m. when officers discovered 42 year-old Jennifer Lynn Arriaga’s car parked on E. Street with two dogs and a cat inside. Temperatures inside the vehicle were well over 110 degrees.

CBS Los Angeles reports that officers immediately smashed open the windows of the car to rescue the animals. Sadly, one of the dogs died.

According to the Inland Valley Humane Society, the cat and second dog, who are now under veterinary care, survived but were under heavy distress.

Officers said they are not sure how long the animals were inside the hot car.

The San Dimas woman was later booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga and she is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
