According to initial reports, Thursday morning a bear was spotted walking on streets near the Pomona Fairplex, and it appears state Department of Fish and Wildlife workers tranquilized it and took it away from the area.
The Press Enterprise reports according to Pomona police Sgt. Brian Hagerty, around 4:30 a.m. they received a report of a bear in the area of McKinley Avenue near the Pomona Fairplex.
Hagerty said when officers found the bear when they arrived and followed it until it climbed a tree at the Metrolink Station that was nearby.
“We don’t get a lot of bear sightings,” he said.
This is just one of many bear sightings in the region in recent months. Reportedly there have been bears spotted in locations such as Yucaipa, Banning and Indio as of late.
You may remember the story of a female bear that had to be euthanized earlier this spring after it was struck by a vehicle in La Verne on the 210 Freeway.
