If you forgot to buy your ticket for Wednesday evening’s Powerball, you’ll be glad to know that there weren’t any tickets sold that matched all six numbers. Now, the estimated jackpot for Saturday’s multi-state Powerball lottery drawing is expected to grow to $356 million.
CBS Los Angeles reports there was one ticket each sold in Iowa, Oregon and Texas that matched five numbers, but missed the Powerball number. The Multi-State Lottery Association announced that those tickets are each worth $1 million.
Wednesday’s Powerball numbers were: 12, 30, 36, 47, 62 and the Powerball number was 9.
Last nights drawing was the 17th since the last time a winning ticket matching all six numbers was sold.
That’s not the only big money on the line. There wasn’t a winner in Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot either, and now that has jumped to $382 million. The next Mega Millions drawing will be Friday night.
If you’re curious, according to the Powerball website, the odds of actually matching all five numbers and the Powerball number is reportedly around 1 in 293 million, and the chance of winning a prize overall is 1 in 24.87. Still worth the buck to buy your ticket?
There are 44 states where the Powerball game is played, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
