VICTORVILLE (CBSRiverside) – Authorities have arrested a 26-year-old gang member on murder charges in the drive-by shooting death of a Victorville girl who was only 12-years-old.
CBS Los Angeles reports San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said at a news conference Friday morning that Anthony Pitts was taken into custody in Redlands on Thursday night. There were also two women were arrested with connections in the case.
Wednesday evening at around 8:30 p.m., Makiya Walls at Monaco Drive and Palermo Avenue when gun shots came pouring through the front window of her family’s home and struck her. Sadly, it was about 90 minutes later when she passed away at a local hospital.
The gunman was in a sedan and immediately fled from the scene.
According to Sheriff McMahon, young Makiya was not the target of the shooting. He went on to say the suspect was in an ongoing feud with Makiya’s family and that’s what appears to have prompted the shooting.
