Album releases become available for download Fridays at midnight East Coast Time. Since that’s 9pm Thursday night West Coast Time, every Thursday night, Pepper picks her two favorite songs from the new country albums and plays them on K-Frog for New at Nine! Here are her picks for this week.
Thomas Rhett‘s new album Life Changes is now out, and even though he takes some risks on it, he says it still represents who he is. “I am, and will always be a country artist,” Thomas Rhett said. “It’s who I am, it’s in my blood.
“I will always try to push boundaries, because that rebellious side has been in me since I was a kid,” he continues. “My voice and my journey that inspired these songs is the glue that makes this album cohesive. This is where I’m at musically and these are my stories.
“Whatever you’re expecting, stop expecting it, because the album that we’ve made is unlike anything that I could ever explain how it happened,” he cautions. “But I do think that if you are a music lover at all, I think that this record will take you on a journey into a lot of different eras of time, and once you get to that era you’re gonna hear my voice and a modern twist to it.
“And if you know my story at all with my family then I think you’re really gonna enjoy listening to the record.”
Here are the songs from Life Changes that I played for New at Nine tonight:
