“Road Less Traveled,” the romantic comedy starring Lauren Alaina, and named for her #1 single of the same name, will make its television debut on CMT next month, according to a press release from her label.
It’s the “American Idol” runner-up’s first feature length film, in which her character, Charlotte, returns to her hometown of Harmony, Tennessee, where a chance encounter with her first love, Ray (played by Donny Boaz – who’s also had roles in“Six” and “NCIS”), forces her to face her past and reconsider her future. Rounding out the cast is Jason Burkey (“The Walking Dead”) as Spencer (Charlotte’s fiancé), and Charlene Tilton (“Dallas,” “The Love Boat”) as Babs, Charlotte’s eclectic, wine-making aunt.
“I am so excited that I have filmed a movie, and I am like an actress,” gushes Lauren. “It was awesome. It was the craziest schedule of all time thought, because I had to squeeze it in between like touring and recording an album and getting it out, but it was such a learning experience for me.
“I love to learn,” she continues. “I love to push myself to be better at things, and I’ve never really acted before, so this was a whole new world for me.”
The film includes several songs from Lauren’s sophomore album Road Less Traveled, such as her current single, “Doin’ Fine,” as well as “My Kinda People,” “Queen of Hearts,” “Painting Pillows,” “Holding the Other” and of course, “Road Less Traveled.”
It will debut on Friday, November 10th at 9pm ET/PT, and encores will run on Saturday, November 11th at noon ET/PT.
Earlier this year, Lauren won CMT’s Breakthrough Video of the Year at the CMT Awards for “Road Less Traveled.”
